Last week I gave a keynote at Case Western Reserve University, as part of the President’s Symposium on Collaborative Technology and the Future of Education. I’ve posted my slides on slideshare.com and I’m working with the event organizers to make the video of my talk available here.

Google Earth has become a platform for revealing atrocities in Dafur, tracking the spread of the avian flu, and analyzing the effect of climate change on sea levels, among dozens of other great applications. Recently the State of Alabama’s Homeland Security department opted to use Google Earth as a platform for emergency management.
The site threads […]

My Wikinomics co-author Don Tapscott has an interesting post on Wiki cities over on wikinomics.com. He discusses the “Wiki City Rome” initiative, a project led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that uses data from cellphones and other wireless technology to illustrate the city’s pulse in real time. The project features a giant on-screen display […]

All eight Democratic presidential candidates will be wooing potential supporters at the YearlyKos convention beginning on Thursday, a key gathering for liberal bloggers organized by DailyKos - one of the first and most influential political blogs. The event, btw, will be […]

Since posting my thoughts on YouTube’s activities around the presidential candidates race, I’ve been in conversation with Stacy Becker who runs the Minnesota Anniversary Project (MAP150), a forum for reinventing policy-making by reconnecting the vision, values and voices of Minnesotans with policy-making on the issues that matter most to their future.
Like me, Becker worries that […]
